"Communication needs to be improved"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital / Maternity

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter had some bleeding at 12 weeks in pregnancy and went to the EPU in Harlow several times. She was generally satisfied with the services provided, and her pregnancy has continued, but surprised that

1) no-one recorded anything in her patient held obstetric record book, and

2) her GP was not informed of the results of scans which were done as a result of the bleeding.

Communication within the health services in Harlow needs to be improved,

Dear AP,

Thank you for your comment and suggestions. I can confirm that the issues have been escalated to the most senior staff in Family and Women's Services and they are actively engaged in addressing your comment with regard to recording notes in the patient held record and communication with her GP.

We would be very interested to know if this does improve and if not, would be keen to ask you to make contact again. You can post a comment on NHS Choices, email pals@pah.nhs.uk or call 01279 82 72 11. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.
