I tripped over while crossing the road, due to a pile of ice and slush, and as I fell forward on my hands and face, my left ankle was twisted and I was in severe pain. Two men picked me up and helped me back to my car, and when I got home, I treated the enormous swelling on my left ankle joint, with cold compress and then crepe bandage supports. I have spent a very uncomfortable night, and in the morning could barely walk and have had to rely on one right leg and support from the furniture and handrail. I rang 111 and then got through to Bicester who recommended I take an ambulance or a taxi within the next four hours, to your A&E. I have managed to get dressed and rang your hospital, thinking that I might be able to get some practical advice, and was unceremoniously cut off by your receptionist. I was told eventually by A&E that they are run off their feet, and that I should get an ambulance.
Without sounding rude, I rarely go to the doctor or to the hospital, but this morning, felt that as I can barely walk outside, that somebody may have been able to offer me some advice, say a medical person, or whether somebody medical capable, could visit me, and have a look at my ankle. Given the weather conditions outside, I think it unreasonable to expect a person who has sustained an injury to try to walk outside and get a taxi or drive to the hospital, and I do not wish to put too much stress on the ambulance service. I don't take kindly to the way I was spoken to on the phone, when your receptionist hung up. They seemed to be uninterested and couldn't care less.
