I was attending for the removal of a cyst from the corner of my eye. I was in as a day surgical patient.
From the minute I arrived, I was treated with care and respect. The receptionist was friendly and relaxed.
On the ward, the nurses who prepared myself and paperwork ready for the surgery, took time and care to ensure I was ok and understood everything.
When I was taken through to the theatre the staff were again kind and supportive, before entering the theatre and once in getting prepped for the procedure they were empathetic to the fact it was my eye that was being treated. I was apprehensive and nervous, but I was trying not to show it. They still understood. The surgeon was the same, he spoke to me throughout and explained what was happening. Afterwards the treatment and care remained.
It was a very positive experience and I cannot praise the staff enough. There's many times in hospital when it is very clear the staff are busy and hurried and at times feel unless and you may be wasting their time. Not so for me at the Vale. I am sure they were busy and tired, but I felt I was important and my tiny operation was important.
