I felt well cared for right from the start of my journey with Grampian maternity services.
My community midwife Amé was absolutely fantastic. When I miscarried last year she was empathetic and professional with great continuity of care until she signed us off on her last visit with our new baby last week. She was so knowledgeable and made me feel completely at ease with any worries or questions I had. I cannot thank her enough and hope I am lucky enough to have her as a midwife again in future. Her student who was shadowing (Christine) was also really helpful, friendly and reassuring.
On the labour ward Midwives Rachael (1st day) and Lorraine were really reassuring and I felt complete trust in the care I was receiving. They explained carefully what was happening and made me feel at ease. They kept the atmosphere light and upbeat which I really appreciated.
Midwife Kay was also wonderful helping me to express colostrum something I hadn’t managed to achieve by myself. This made me feel empowered and capable of feeding my baby. She even found a beautiful violet hat for our baby girl to wear after birth.
The doctor was friendly, confident and I felt trust in her decision making.
I was on the Summerfield ward for 2 days and my experience was very positive. The meals were lovely and auxiliary staff were so friendly making the effort to chat.
