"Treated with compassion, dignity, and felt listened to"

My daughter, who has cerebral palsy, was transferred to St John's A&E with Flu. The care my daughter received was second to none. The nursing staff, healthcare support workers and medical staff were all excellent.

Previously in another hospital, I have felt my daughter was judged as having no quality of life due to her disabilities, however the St John's team saw her for the person she is and did not define her by disabilities!!

It was a refreshing experience not having to state clearly that my daughter should be treated like anyone else or have to fight for her to receive the right care and treatment she deserves.

As a mum I felt listened to and was confident that my daughter was in good hands. I cannot thank the staff enough for their care, compassion and kindness that night. They treated my daughter and me with dignity and respect!!

We spent a long time in the department waiting for a bed, but they made us feel comfortable through getting an actual bed for my daughter, so she didnt have to lie on a trolley, regular cups of tea [with plenty sugar!] and regular checking in on me as I was extremely worried.

Words can't express how thankful I am to the A&E team. Thank you again. You are ALL amazing !!!!!
