"A&E Antrim Hospital"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency

(as a relative),

Attended Antrim Hospital A&E with my mum on the advice of her GP following deranged blood results after the onset of illness at the weekend.

Although the department was extremely busy the efficiency of the service we received was remarkable. Everything happened very promptly and mum was made comfortable in a bed in a side room where I was allowed to stay with her. This meant so much, as mum has memory problems and struggles to give a good history of her symptoms. She also becomes quite distressed in hospital.

About 4 hours later, having had a dose of IV antibiotics and fluids, we are home again with an appointment for a scan in 2 days time. The staff nurses, student nurse Emma, A&E doctor and the doctor from the surgical team who assessed mum were all great.

So grateful for such a positive experience as generally you just hear the horror stories of A&E.

Thank you to everyone
