"Nothing was any bother to them"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Medicine for the Older Adult (Wards 14,20,22)

(as a relative),

I would like thank ward 14 for the care and compassion they showed my mum in the last few days of her life when she was brought into the ward.  Particularly Margaret who remembered my Mum from a previous occasion when she was brought into the hospital and even remembered me.

My Mum had dementia and had previously been in the same ward  but she was able to walk about and she followed the Nurses about with her toy dementia cat.  Sadly my Mum eventually became bedridden in the last year of her life after being discharged from the hospital. She was again admitted to the ward at the end of November with sepsis.  There was also another second year nurse called Charlene who I think she said normally worked on haematology but was sent to the ward to work as they were understaffed.

Charlene did everything to make my Mum comfortable in her final days even massaging her hands and cleaning all her nails, brushing her hair etc.  My mum died at the end of November.   They supplied us with endless tea, coffee and  biscuits.  I just want to thank everyone on the ward but especially Margaret and Charlene.  Nothing was any bother to them.  Also, thanks to the Doctors who kept us informed and explained everything to us.
