I had an appointment at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, for a nurse led Urodynamic investigation. I had previously read the detailed letter outlining the procedure and I was aware of the potential discomfort involved and the possibility of a (later) urinary infection. I was therefore quite anxious about this procedure, and certainly not looking forward to what is both an invasive and embarrassing test.
Thankfully, the nurse concerned (Gemma) explained the process in detail and allowed me to ask any questions beforehand: I felt fully involved in the process and reassured by her knowledgeable answers to my questions.
To be honest, the procedure was quite painful (as expected), but I found that a couple of painkillers and drinking plenty of fluid helped enormously .
Perhaps more importantly, I found Gemma to be warm and caring (as well as professional) and this undoubtedly helped me to relax. So thank you very much for your kindness - it is much appreciated.
