“I’ve got a rash.”
“Allergy: try tablets”
“I’m covered in spots.”
“Eczema: try steroid cream”
“My skin is itchy.”
“Psoriasis: try coal tar”
“My skin is scaly.”
“Lichen planus: go to hospital.”
I feel like a leper unclean.
I really don’t want to be seen.
Scared for my body. Full of doubt.
I’ve no confidence to go out.
Wow! The diagnosis is right.
The doctors have now seen the light.
Photo biology
will solve my malady.
And I will not be such a sight.
Thirty sessions with a head shield
And my poor old body was healed.
Ultra violet made me shine
I’m ultra-cured, ultrafine.
I’m no longer red and spotted.
My husband is right besotted.
It took a year I must confess.
But now I thank the NHS.
"I’m ultra-cured, ultrafine (a poem)"
