"Accessible information"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / North West Cancer Centre

(as a relative),

Four weeks ago my husband went to the doctors because he found a lump in his neck. He was referred to the hospital for a biopsy. There was a two week wait. Last Wednesday he got a call to go to the hospital. This was quite shocking as he was told he has Hodgkin Lymphoma.

I couldn’t go to the appointment with him as I was having surgery the following Monday myself and so I had to wait at home.

To me we need to know more and have information, more than was given to him.

I needed to know more information to give him, I didn’t want to be the vulnerable one in the situation. Where can I get the information to give to him. As a deaf person I need to give that information to my husband.

So my question really is what can I access, where can I access the same information and how can I access the same information as a hearing person but in a language for me to be able to understand and pass on to my husband?
