I transferred to NHS Fife Rheumatology when I moved to the area after my initial Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosis. As my diagnosis was recent I was treated as newly diagnosed and received a multidisciplinary assessment and treatment options.
The health care I continue to receive from Fife Rheumatic Diseases Unit has been exemplary and I have felt incredibly well supported and cared for. Since moving to NHS Fife I have been supported by a consultant rheumatologist, clinical health psychologists, podiatrist, pysiotherapist and occupational therapists. The rheumatology team work closely together in the patient's best interests and have always gone above and beyond to support me. I have experienced a mix of hospital appointments, home visits and video/phone calls from various professionals including specialised household aids and equipment, orthotic insoles, specific exercises and support in the form of letters and communication with the council and my GP.
I have felt valued and understood at all times and I have never had any issue with re-organising appointments to suit my needs. The 'MyHealthBoost' app has been really helpful for finding information and for patient self-management. I was really struggling with my health at the end of last year, and the whole team came together and fought my corner which I will be forever grateful for. An exceptional team and service.
