"Crisis team assessment"

About: Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health

(as other),

Had four different people come out to assess me. When the first of the two came, one of the people asked me if I didn't know an answer to something or just didn't want to tell them. I mean they were just being difficult in the way they were going on and there was no need for it.

Then the next two who attended, one of them just sat staring at me literally staring for ages. I wanted to say something but couldn't. They are an extremely difficult service to be in contact with because all you are ever told is that you should distract yourself when that doesn't work for me and they will say you are not suffering from a condition even though I know my illness better than them.

It's not on that they are like this. They have no authority to tell me how I'm feeling when they are not me. I don't believe they care about my mental illness because for 6 months now I've had no one help me, yet self harming and overdoses have still happened. They are told about a suicide plan yet they still don't do anything but they want to see the suicide note, they will wait.

They get paid yet in my experience people are not getting the help they are entitled to. Staff attuides at the trust are diabolical. Improve the trust and the staff and help patients.

We are really sorry that you had this experience. It would never be our intention to make you feel uncomfortable when you have reach out for help during a difficult time. We always want to be caring and compassionate when we are supporting people, we take any time we get this wrong very seriously.

We are making all of our crisis services aware of your experience but would like to support you to make a complaint if that is something that would want to pursue. A complaint would offer the opportunity for everyone involved to give their account and would lead to actions that would support positive change for the next person using that service.
