4 1/2 years ago I started Trying to Conceive. 3 years ago I got referred for investigations, 2 years ago I had my first chat with fertility. 5 months ago I had my first round of IVF (fresh, unsuccessful). That’s 2 1/2 years from referral to treatment.
I’m in my late thirties now. Guess how long it takes from that cycle to trying with our remaining frozen embryo? Approximately 9 months. A nice wee reminder of what should have been happening at that time, had the previous transfer been able to stick around. The irony of that specific waiting time gap is not lost on me.
The worst part was that I was not contacted after my egg transfer, just left to it, had to fill out a form to say I wasn’t pregnant. The form itself said I’d get a review in 12 weeks (even that standard time was a long long wait). No contact when I sent in the form to say the IVF had failed. No contact until about 13 weeks when I got given a review appt for 15 weeks after my failed transfer. A 15 week wait is unacceptable.
Now I’m being told waiting time for Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) is another 3-4 months on top of that. Despite the fact I have been speaking to someone on message boards who started FET meds one month after their review appointment. It’s been over a month for me since my review. So why is the waiting list different for different people when I keep being told it’s in strict chronological order?
