"Made me feel at ease and nothing was too much trouble for them,"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I recently had to attend Crosshouse Hospital for my colonoscopy, and whilst generally overall, it was a good experience, there are a few things that I feel could be made better. The colonoscopy booklet that is full of information arrived but I was disappointed that it was a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy which meant that the quality was quite poor, and whilst there was an index with page numbers, the actual page numbers had been lost from the document over the course of the photocopy of the photocopy of the photocopy.

The booklet covers just about everything, which is great, but for me, with a stoma, there was no information on how things work when having a colonoscopy with a stoma. So I would like to see a special section in the booklet all about having a colonoscopy through your stoma. I'm sure that many people new to a stoma would wonder how it all worked, and it would be good to be able to share some useful basic tips with them - for example, using drainable pouches whilst using Moviprep.

On the day of the colonoscopy the staff, from the receptionist who welcomed me to the Unit to the Consultant, all made me feel at ease and nothing was too much trouble for them, and I really appreciated that.

Dear LoobyLoo2018

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to share feedback following your recent admission to the Endoscopy Unit within University Hospital Crosshouse.

I am delighted to hear that you received such kind, professional and compassionate care from our staff whilst you were under our care.

Thank you also for your constructive comments on how we can make improvements to our information booklet. Whilst we always aim to provide information in a way that is clear and easy to understand, we do recognise that sometimes there is room for improvement. Hearing of this directly from our patients is one of the best ways for us to capture this learn and develop. I have passed your comments to the clinical teams for their reflection and learning.

Thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
