"Infection Control"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a service user),

Staff were not disinfecting Obs equipment between patient contact, which is something I've raised several times in the past.

I contracted Covid for a 3rd time whilst in Hospital, despite being fully vaccinated. All 3 of my Covid infections occurred as a Hospital inpatient.
I was very surprised that it was OK for Covid positive patients to be in the same area as other acutely unwell, elderly & vulnerable patients, with equipment being shared.
When I queried this, having been Shielding for 3 years due to being clinically extremely vulnerable to Covid, I was told it was OK because there's a gap between the beds.
There were no disinfectant wipes on board the Obs trolley, and staff had to be asked to clean the equipment, each & every time they came to the bedside to check my Obs.
This is a very basic infection control requirement & not taking the necessary steps to prevent the spread of infection in a Hospital setting is inexcusable.
