After a recent successful Diabetic Eye Screening appointment at The Arches Centre Belfast, I knew I should make an appointment with Diabetic Podiatry - previous appointments did not go-ahead because of different COVID Pandemic impacts.
A few weeks' ago, I phoned the clinic, explained the situation, and the member of staff helpfully gave me an appointment for yesterday morning.
I arrived at The Arches Centre a little early, Reception directed me to near the Clinic, and the Therapist greeted me on time at 11.00am.
She introduced herself - I'm really sorry I did not note down her name to remember now - but she showed me into her clinical room, and checked some medical history and health questions, and invited me to ask any questions. I said COVID, hernia and general mobility issues made attending to feet, especially right-one, difficult.
On the couch, she examined both feet, and then said she would be doing some sensation tests, as well as ultrasounds. She stressed the importance of keeping feet clean, protecting them, regular checking, prevention, and having any problems treated promptly. She reassured me that I should not hesitate to phone if any worrying feet concerns should arise.
The therapist offered to tidy-up my nails, and offered further advice about footcare and things like washing and creams.
I felt comfortable and that I and my feet were in good hands(!), in a clean and tidy environment, with a knowledgeable and welcoming health professional.
The appointment was very worthwhile, and I would recommend that everyone eligible takes-uo this valuable service. Thank you.
