"Great care, but worried about cleanliness"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute)

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Northampton General Hospital on the 10th Sept, had surgery on the 11th Sept and then discharged on the 16th Sept. The staff were absolutely wonderful. They work so hard on those Orthopaedic wards. The care before and after my operation was excellent.

My consultant was excellent.

Communication was great, I received a booklet of information prior to my operation. Everytime the nurse did something, she explained why she was doing it, great communication.

Everyone from the physios to the porters were marvellous. They made everything run like clockwork.

The bathrooms weren't very clean however and when I spilt some coffee on the floor, the stains were still there a day after. The cleaners only seem to mop in the middle and not around the edges. It is hard for the staff to keep the place clean when they are constantly working. But I was a little worried to go to Northampton as my husband died from MRSA.

The food was terrible, it was far too salty for most peoples taste, I lived mainly on cheese and biscuits for the 5 days I was there.

Parking is far easier if you have a blue disabled badge, otherwise it is fairly difficult.
