"Can barely function"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gastroenterology (Stomach and Gut)

(as a service user),

For a number of years I have been going back and forward to my doctor with the same complaints. I am so tired all the time I can barely function. I have constant skin rashes. Hot flushes. Aches. I have lost 3 stone. Have no appetite and when I do it just goes right through me. The list could go on and on. I am a single mother who has no option but to work but I am pretty much on my knees. I have no existence as I feel awful all the time.

I  was finally given a CT scan which has shown up something in my bowel. I was told I would be referred to a specialist urgently. 7 weeks later I am still waiting. I called the hospital today and was told I would be waiting at least 15 weeks. Because this has been ongoing for so long my private health care wont do anything (funnily enough if I went private it’s the same doctor who I am desperately waiting to see that can see me no problem!) This is making me so miserable now. I already suffer with my mental health and I am really struggling to cope. What has happened to our once great ARI?

Kind Regards

For information. If you post a story on here about Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and get a reply straight away asking you to contact them don’t be fooled into thinking they are trying to help. My experience is that they call you just to tell you that you are on the waiting list, and will be seen as soon as possible. Total waste of time! I thought I was finally getting somewhere, how wrong was I?
