I am writing this story on behalf of my mum and Dad. I am horrified to hear how the staff within the CT department behaved towards my family
Our family are going through a stressful situation as my Dad had a traumatic injury in June. Both my mum and I work for the NHS so I am not raising this issue without good reason.
The staff were behaving in an unprofessional way, discussing their social life in front of patients and showing a lack of respect for sick patients around them. Also swinging about on chairs and laughing and giggling and being extremely loud. I don't believe this is what sick patients want to hear.
I’m fact when my mum asked how long the porters would be to take my dad back to the ward, she was informed in what she found an argumentative and uncaring tone that it was a busy hospital. My mum and I both know the pressure within the hospital but my mum only asked a question and they had been waiting approx 20 mins or so.
Approx another 10 minutes passed again and my mum asked again if there was any update. The staff member responded in an aggressive tone when my mum said they were going to complain about their attitude and hand gestured to my mum to get away.
I’m horrified at the behaviour and attitude of the staff within the CT dept and their lack of care and compassion. I’m still shocked that a member of staff would treat a family member in this way.
I would keen for someone to follow this up and I feel that these workers maybe need to be retrained on basic human manners.
