"I left feeling very happy"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I attended orthopaedic outpatients and from arrival until leaving I found all the staff very helpful and friendly.  The receptionist who greeted me was very efficient, introduced himself and was welcoming.

I was then taken to X-ray by a volunteer who was chatty and obviously someone who enjoyed helping others. I then attended the clinic, was seen first by a support worker, who took the time to introduce herself took my height and weight and again was very friendly.

I had a very short wait to see my consultant.  Over the past few years I have seen a number of different orthopaedic consultants and most consultations have been very brief to the point with very little explanation and I was leaving the consulting room within minutes of arriving.

Today was a far different experience, A full history was taken verbally from me, I was shown my X-rays and then a very thorough examination.  Then my options were explained to me very clearly and I would say the consult lasted certainly over 20 minutes and at no point did I feel rushed.  I left feeling very happy

I think positive comments are as important as negative ones and very often missed.
