I have been undergoing some tests for various issues. Everytime I ring the reception, I am made to feel like a massive inconvenience at this practice which isn’t how you want to be made to feel when you don’t feel well in yourself anyway. This gives me such intense anxiety that I avoid calling and would rather make appointments online to avoid calling up. A few weeks ago, the receptionist rang me and I asked if I can make an appointment, she responded ‘no you can’t, we don’t do prebooked appointments’ I was taken aback by this, as apparently this GP only do ‘emergency’ appointments now, which made me feel bad to take up an emergency appointment as my appointment was not necessarily an emergency. The receptionist persisted to be rude to me, asking what was wrong and when I told her, she said ‘have you taken any paracetamol?’ as if I wouldn’t have tried that. I then asked her if she thought It was worth seeing the doctor over to which she replied ‘how would I know? I’m not a Dr am I’ which is fair enough, but the tone in which it was said was so rude and I could hear staff laughing in the background, I work in healthcare myself so I get the pressures but it’s totally unprofessional, there is no service with a smile. I was also given the wrong details and when the receptionist was told, they didn’t apologise; they just carried on as if nothing had happened. Makes me so anxious to come to this practice.
