"I don’t think I could have done it without them"

About: Community Services / Social Prescribers Social Work Services / Employment Support Team

(as a service user),

I have two pieces of feedback for the help and support I received from the Social care partnership in Perth and Kinross. It started back in January, I needed some help at that point, I’m disabled and have been having health problems and my job had come to an end and I was finding it financially difficult. This lady, Jeni, she came out to see me, she was extremely good, she was very very helpful in every way possible. She is a social prescriber.

She really helped me a lot and I really appreciate it, she listened to everything, she was available for me and she came up with ideas and that were helpful. I don’t have any more appointments but she’s told me she’s there if I need her which is really helpful. She came out to my home to see me, it is very helpful that she came to see me in my own home because I have a disability and I live in a rural area.

Around the same time I also accessed the employment services, I saw an employment support officer, she works for the health and social care partnership too in the adult social work and social care service, her name is Marie. I got in touch with Marie in a round about way and I was just having some difficulties with getting interviews but not landing jobs and I was pretty sure it was my age, - I was in my seventies and also I am disabled, it’s hard being a woman over pension age and when you add other things too, so she helped me.

managed to find a job without her help, but she gave me lots of information which helped boost my confidence and she supported me through the process of applying for the job I had found because it was quite challenging. Talking me through everything was really helpful. It’s hard because you start to think that it’s related to a kind of discrimination and she just helped me to keep going, I was very emotional about everything and with all the other things going on. These two ladies helped me though a very bad patch in my life.

I think it’s having somebody to talk to that helps a lot.

I don’t think I could have done it without them.
