I had a fall and a family member had to bring me into the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. When we arrived at the Accident & Emergency Department I really thought I would have a long wait, however I was seen very quickly.
The nursing care was great and the doctors assessed me then I was sent for an X Ray. Also during this time I was in terrible pain and thankfully the doctors gave me regular pain relief which made things a bit easier for me.
In radiology I had a very short wait. The staff there were very good as well as being very careful. They were so patient as I had difficulty with movement.
I soon realised I had a broken bone. I was informed of this when I returned to the A&E department. It was then decided that I would be transferred to the Admissions unit for further assessment The staff in the unit were brilliant, doing their job well and probably going beyond the call of duty.
Everything I needed was just there and I had plenty of visitors to keep me company.
I was given a splint for my arm this made things so much better also the physiotherapist came to visit She explained everything fully and gave me an information leaflet about Broken Shoulders. This was very helpful.
I tend to be anxious in hospitals but I found the nurses to be very supportive.
I was then transferred to Ward 9 Rapid Assessment Discharge. The staff in ward 9 are just excellent. Nothing is too much trouble and I just ask if I need anything or call the nurses with the buzzer.
The care overall has been 100%. No faults and the staff are always checking on patients by day and by night. I am grateful that I am going home with a care package this will help me so much.
