"The perfect blend of professionalism, friendliness and support"

About: Adult Psychological Therapies Service / Primary Mental Health Care Children and Young People Services / Health Visiting

(as a service user),

My second beautiful daughter was born in April. With a traumatic birth and very slow recovery, I needed all the help I could get afterwards. I wrote before saying thank you to various staff involved with helping me.

I'd like to say thanks a million to our Family Health Visitor, Claire!

There is so much I could say about Claire. When people were helping me physically after my daughter was born, Claire helped emotionally. She's so busy with her job and her own family life but she makes the time for any mummy, especially one in need! She gives you her time.

Claire is a breath of fresh air and she will never understand how much she helped by listening to my ordeal. Not only listening, but being empathetic, sharing her own experience and truly putting herself in your shoes while she is with you. I know health visitors ask how you are and of course they are there for the babies but Claire is the epitome of humanity!

You can see the joy on Claire's face when she comes into your home. She cares about the family members, not just the new baby, and she is an expert in her field. She is a precious rare find. She has the perfect blend of professionalism, friendliness and support. It feels like you are catching up with a friend.

Others told me they would refer me to things, but with Claire, after our 1st meeting, she followed through and arranged for me to see Mary at my GP surgery. Monthly counselling with Mary has helped me and that's all down to Claire arranging because I certainly wasn't brave enough to organise it myself.

Thanks a million to Mary too. I enjoy our sessions and get so much out if it. Being able to speak to someone else who is outside of your situation really helps your head. Mary is an amazing listener, brilliant at advice, lovely and you feel like your case is this only one she remembers as she makes you feel she is the only one she helps. Thank you very much, Mary.

I am very lucky to have people helping me. This all started with Claire! Thank you.

Good morning, thank you very much for taking the time to write such a heart felt message in regards to the relationship you have developed with your health visitor Claire. I remember your last message and felt for you as you described the difficult journey you experienced in those early weeks after your beautiful daughter was born.

I am so pleased that you have received the nurture and support that you needed both from Claire and Mary. It sounds like Claire has walked along side you during this time, it is wonderful to hear that you experienced such a sensitive human approach in your time of vulnerability and that Claire could listen and hear what it was that you needed and took the time to be your voice when you felt you could not. Many times another person cannot change what has happened to you, but they can carry your burden with you for a short while, to help to get you to where you need to be, it sounds like Claire did this for you and Mary continues to do so.

I am so glad that you are getting the support that you need and feel that it is really helping you.

Claire will continue to support you and your family into the future and I wish you health and happiness in the future.

Best wishes

Suzanne McLoughlin
