"Care, empathy and efficiency shone through"

About: Western General Hospital / Oncology

(as a service user),

I was admitted for one week for support towards the end of my cancer treatment. I reacted badly to some of the drugs I had.

The care from everyone in Ward 15 was superb. A great sense of team work and support for each other as staff. Never letting anyone fail or a patient go without whatever they needed.

A really pragmatic approach to care and visitors was there. Allowing some flex in the system to avoid computer says no which can happen in the NHS. This made parents feels supported and safe. Care, empathy and efficiency shone through the wards.

Finally, the sign visibly of the senior charge nurse helping her teams and patients showed that the ward was one of the best there is. With staff supported at every level at all times by their management team.

While no one loves being in a ward, I found my time in this ward some of the best care I’ve seen or had in my lifetime.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience in Ward 15. I will ensure that SCN Boyd and her team are made aware of your comments and I am glad that the team where able to meet your needs whilst you were under their care.

I wish you well as you continue your treatment.

Regards

Steve
