"Inconsistency and varying level of care"

About: Care at home / Irvine and Kilwinning

(as a relative),

My mums carers are on holiday and once again this is not managed properly. My mum has dementia and the carers are not consistent  she can have a different carer for morning, lunch, tea and tuck visit. They also attend at different times to usual carers and this causes my mum distress. She also has carers who have never been in before and they ask my mum where her medication is and what she would like for tea. I feel these carers are not aware of how to deal with customers who have dementia. I have raised this issue before and feel a handover should be done prior to normal carers going off for leave and trying to keep the same carer for the 4 days rota.

Dear April38,

I am sorry to hear of your concerns that there has been an inconsistency of carers when your mums regular carers are on annual leave. I am aware that you have raised this previously.

All our Care at Home Staff attend training in Dementia at the point of induction, our staff have CM phones which detail information in relation to your mums needs, however to enable us to look further into the matter I would be obliged if you could contact 01294 310222 and ask to speak to Team Manager Laura Sommerville, if you can provide Laura with further information to enable us to look into the matter and address your concerns.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your concerns
