"Mental Health Service at Bassetlaw DR & CPN"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health (inpatient)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

sent on behalf of a service user:

I Just wanted to comment on the care I have received from Mental Health service in Bassetlaw. I had a relapse in my Mental Health in December went to see my GP at the Larwood Centre in Worksop who referred me back to Mental Health Services. It only took 4 weeks to see a consultant (Dr Bloomberg) and my old CPN Trish Southwell.

The support understanding and kindnesses was just outstanding. They quickly got me on new Medication and meet with me on a regular bases to monitor my Mental Health, I was offered a place on ward B2 but with discussing with Dr Bloomberg my options with support from Trish my CPN this was not needed, how great is that, care in the community we hear about all the time has worked very well for me. I live with the recovery model which means for me the support I need is there when I need it, being able to take back control of my life and have a meaning life is due to hard work by myself and the Fantastic Trish and Dr Bloomberg. Could you pass on my thanks to them? I am now back at work and feeling well again.

I would just like to say that the benefits of working in a multidisciplinary way and focussing on the needs of the patient rather than the system we work in is really beneficial. I hope I always treat others with respect empathy and genuineness, and good communication is paramount, which includes listening. When patients are at their most vulnerable, they need to be heard and not 'fobbed' off. They need to feel safe and they need to feel valued.

I genuinely love the job I do!

Thank you

Tricia
