I have been visiting daily for over 2 weeks at the GRI and i have had great problems finding public toilets in the building.
I suffer from colitis so require a toilet , regularly and at short notice. I have restricted mobility and disabled. While visiting on level 3 ward 64 and 63 I was told by staff that the closest toilets were at the basement.
Unfortunately I had to use these basement facilities which is ONLY for ladies which I found quite inadequate as the were small cubicles with blue dim lighting and during the past 2 weeks one toilet has been permanently closed for use.
i find it hard to believe that a working hospital has 3 toilets in the basement and one , I believe, near a coffee shop somewhere.
On level 2 I was thankfully given a code for a toilet on that floor but when I asked again on level 3 ward 65 today, I was told that the public toilet was closed during covid and after covid it was made into a 2nd staff changing room.
i really am shocked at the lack of ladies and gents toilets. Please tell me where an aged, colitis suffering, disabled person can access a toilet in the queen Elizabeth building of Glasgow Royal Infirmary on all floor levels.
On the NHSGGS website for "Information about visiting" it states
"Pease use the toilets for the public (not for patients or staff ) when you can. Does that mean if no public toilets are available that the public can use patient and staff toilets?
