"Failure to update my contact details and pass them to a district nurse"

About: King's Mill Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

In my opinion the ward 21 admin staff I encountered need to wake up. I was admitted for an abscess to be lanced and I was out by 6pm with meds and the guarantee that a district nurse would contact me in order to do a dressing change 2 days later. I left with quite a good impression. Alas this didn't last long.

2hrs later I got a call from my brother telling me the district nurse had phoned my elderly mother. The hospital gave the wrong details to the district nurse. I contacted the hospital to rectify their mistake, I gave my personal details again to avoid any further errors by the ward 21 staff. The next day I received no call or contact from anybody. The following day I rang the hospital again (ward 21) at 10am only to be told that my details hadn't been updated. This member of staff assured me that she had updated my details, had contacted the district nurse with this information and I would receive a call at some point during the day.

Having waited in for 8hrs with no joy I rang the hospital only to be told no such information for me was on record. The duty nurse warned me that my dressing could not be left any more than 48 hrs due to the danger of infection. Well how was I ever going to get it changed within that timescale when they couldn't even listen and write my address properly? I have never come across such levels of incompetence. It amazes me that such individuals have the nerve to complain about their job. Try doing it properly and then people might listen to you. As I am now sat here with the threat of infection looming, I wonder if any of these individuals would be willing to acknowledge their ineptitude?

Having never used kings mill hospital before, I certainly won't be going back again. Have I got to DIY from now on? p. s. I heard some staff moaning how quiet it was for a Friday. That's the busy excuse out the window. I wonder what with they will come out with instead. I've had problems at other hospitals in the past and now kings mill. where do I go now? It's all so shocking.
