"Receiving single point of contact information"

About: Borders General Hospital / Borders Macmillan Centre Borders General Hospital / Dermatology

(as a service user),

I have been referred by my GP to dermatology with a mole, at no point was cancer mentioned, I have then received an information leaflet through the post about single point of contact and a card with details of cancer coordinators no mention of dermatology. This has made me extremely anxious and worried to say the least, especially as the wait time is 10-12 weeks.

Dear irregularitytc46,

On behalf of NHS Borders, I would like to sincerely apologise to you for the lack of information given to you at the time of referral to the Dermatology specialist team where your mole may have shown concerning signs for Cancer. Receiving a leaflet explaining that cancer is one of the conditions being considered when you did not expect that, along with the wait to clinic appointment, is clearly a worrying time for you.

Would it be possible for you to get in touch with me so I can look into why this happened and to make sure you have the most appropriate point of contact, support and information moving forward? My contact number is: 01896 826888.
