Anything else?
It was six months ago on a Friday morning that my GP sent me to the Airedale Hospital. Reporting to A & E, I was given a bed in Ward 5 within 30 minutes. Excellent arrangements. The stroke consultant very soon came to examine me and sent me to have a head scan. Very efficient. Later in the afternoon, the consultant returned and said that I had had a cerebellar infraction. I was sent home with medication. Saturday, I was apprehensive that something was not right. In the afternoon, I went back to A & E. Very quickly I was seen and sent back to Ward 5. The duty weekend doctor and staff were very good. I was kept in the ward for two nights. Another scan took place - no change. I was sent home on Monday, much relieved mentally ! All the doctors, nursing staff, day and night, ancillary staff and porters were most professional and very helpful and reassuring. Nobody wants to go to hospital but, if it is necessary to have treatment, then I cannot imagine any better treatment and care than that which I had at Airedale. Day, night and weekend attention was all equally good. Subsequently, the occupational therapy attention was very good and I have had excellent physio in the Coronation Hospital in Ilkley. (Very conveniently located for me living in Menston)
