My sister has been diagnosed with Dercums disease. Her diagnosis was given by a plastic surgeon, who removed several painful fatty lumps on two occasions.
She has since been referred onto several doctors working within the field of immunology but they have all said that they cannot help as they have no knowledge about the condition. They have not even met with my sister. She doesn’t know where to turn and her quality of life is almost unbearable for her. She is housebound and in constant pain and she seems to have one infection after another.
I’m shocked that as a family we are having to Google information and are left with absolutely no support or direction.
Any advice would be very gratefully accepted.
