We always enjoy our visit to the child development service at Lurgan hospital. The therapy team are caring, friendly and very attentive to my child's development needs. We are given excellent support to help reach his developmental goals.  

However I do feel further investment is required to make the building and facilities more accessible, modern and welcoming for children. This would enhance the excellent care given and make it accessible to all.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback, which has been fed back to your child's CDC team at Lurgan Hospital. I am so glad that you have found your visits there supportive and enjoyable.

I would be very keen to take any possible steps to make the building and facilities more accessible, modern and welcoming for children. We have recently completed an enclosed outdoor therapy area, with a range of play equipment for all ages, in the courtyard aligning the pre-school child development clinic at Lurgan Hospital, this provides an alternative to clinic rooms for more functional therapy activities. We have also made a request for electronic door openers to be installed to make movement in and through the building easier. I'm sorry that this hasn't happened yet, and for any difficulties your family have experienced in accessing the facility. We do have ramp access and a large changing and toilet room. The corridors and rooms are currently decorated in a child friendly way, however we would welcome any specific feedback on how we could improve on this, or any other suggestions you may have to enhance the department. You can speak to the team on your next visit or e-mail them via their generic e-mail address with any suggestions.

Thank you for your response whilst I do appreciate there are some aspects of the building that have been accommodated for accessibility the installment electronic door openers has still not been implemented. I often require assistance from staff or member of the public to open doors and make my way through the building with my son. This is a service that is meant to assist children with disabilities in their development so having a fully accessible clinic would be very helpful. I also note that the Lurgan hospital site in general is outdated with narrow old outpatient buildings. It requires proper investment like a new health centre which has been given to the Portadown and Banbridge areas.
