I was 40 weeks pregnant and my contractions started. When I spoke to a doctor on the phone from the hospital they said I was being optimistic basically saying I’m just being hopeful and that my contractions didn’t start.
Later on in that day they got worse and worse to the point I couldn’t handle the pain so I spoke to Blackpool Victoria delivery suite and they said to come in. I went in and they monitored me and said they could give me some pain relief but I had to go home as baby wasn’t ready to come yet. I then returned home and the pain got more and more unbearable so I spoke to a someone on the ward again on the phone and they said to come back in. Once there they could see how much pain I was in and offered me more pain relief as I hadn’t slept for 2 days.
They wanted to keep me in for observation’s so I asked if I could stay over with my partner. I stayed the night then when morning time came I was told to go home and try and get some breakfast. I felt I was basically palmed off again even though I kept repeating myself telling them how much pain I was in. It was almost as if they didn’t believe me.
I returned home and hour later the pain got to bad I couldn’t handle it anymore I had gone 3 days with no sleep and not eating. I felt like my body was shutting down so I went back to ward and refused to go home this time round which finally made them monitor me more.
I was then left for hours on end with no updates or anything until they noticed the baby was in distress. Out of nowhere I was told I’m having an emergency c section and I need to get ready for it, all because they failed to give me the care I needed days ago. The baby was stuck and wasn’t moving and began to come distressed.
Once having the c section I was moved onto ward D where I wasn’t given any information on what I should do to help my recovery I wasn’t told a thing. I had no help with my baby even though I couldn’t feel my body from the waist down and still not all there because of the drugs. No one gave me pain relief and when I asked it took them hours to even get back round to me.
When the next morning came after my operation no one explained anything still and I was told to stand up so when I did a gush of blood fell out of me all over the floor and staffed looked at me in disgust and even huffed about having to clean it up. 3 days I spent in there with no support or anything from staff. When I was eventually discharged and told I could go home my c section started to feel a bit off so I raised my concerns with the day unit. When I went in I felt I was palmed off yet again by them saying it’s healing nicely, yet little did I know later that night I would bleed out all over my bed laid in a puddle of my blood.
When I got rushed back to the day unit it turns out I had an infection I was made to go back everyday where I would get different doctors that didn’t have a clue what to do and suggested different things. This went on for weeks and the c section still had an infection and didn’t heal. Still to this day I’m having problems.
I’m disgusted with the whole experience from start to finish
