"Podiatry-I was told I was not on system"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Podiatry

(as a service user),

I have been an in patient at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow and I have type 2 diabetes and heart failure. I have been in hospital for over 2 weeks.

My toenails are ingrown and of more concern is toes starting to get black and dark. This was viewed by Doctors and Nurses and a referral was made to podiatry in October 2023.  Later in October my feet were photographed, however when I phoned Diabetic Podiatry the following day to find out when I would be seen I was told I was not on system.

Dear Connaught£1

Thank you for getting in touch via Care Opinion. I am sorry to hear that you have not received an appointment with the Podiatry Service. I have checked with my colleagues in Podiatry regarding the referral process. I am unsure if you are still in hospital or whether you are at home. If you are still in hospital can you ask the ward staff to make a referral to the Podiatry Service? However, if you are at home, can you please telephone 0800 592 087 or 0141 347 8909 or email AHP.Appointments@ggc.scot.nhs.uk to make an appointment.

Thank you

Nicole
