"The staff at the hospital were fabulous"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency Notting Hill Medical Practice

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter who has learning difficulties was experiencing severe behaviour problems in June 2023. The staff at both Ellis Court Respite unit, Carrickfergus & Larne Adult Centre were concerned with her behaviour.

Without an appointment I took her to see Dr Martin at Whiteabby Health. The staff were so obliging and could not have been kinder. On our 3rd visit without an appointment, as my daughter's condition had not improved Dr Martin wrote us a letter to take to Antrim Hospital A+E to get her admitted for tests.

The staff at the hospital were fabulous. We were lucky to get a private room & the relevant tests were carried out with my daughter under sedation. We were admitted on Friday afternoon & discharged on Monday afternoon. All the tests were positive & were issued with 2 new medications, Phenergan and Haloperidol which have since worked well and she is back to her normal self with just a rare 'blip'. The hospital staff were all amazing.

I also attend a carer's forum, run by Keelin which has been a great help and very informative. I have no problem or issue if you wish to contact me.
