"Struggles with OCD"

About: Community Mental Health / Adult Psychological Therapies

(as a service user),

I had a panic attack last year and asked to be referred as I had previously received help in regards to my OCD, however I felt it would be beneficial to have help with ERP as CBT on its own was not effective.

I felt at a loss with myself and didn't know how to handle the OCD. I felt like I was failing and struggling to get on with my day to day life as a mother.

I stared to receive therapy at the start of this year.

My therapist was very helpful and I found the sessions very calming, encouraging and never felt judged. If anything it was very easy to talk to my therapist. They provided many tools and explained how each one could be used.

Exposure Response Therapy was easy to start and hugely effective with my progress, yet it was the behaviour experiments that seemed to be the most effective for lowering my anxiety levels.

I had my last session, and although I will miss the sessions, I do feel confident enough to continue improving and enjoy life as a Mother again.
