Staff skills
On arriving at the clinic I was immediately put at ease and the staff had made the best of the environment to try to make it relaxing and inviting.
Staff attitude
All staff were smiling and friendly, I was made to feel welcome and as though they were genuinely happy to see patients and provide patient care.
Introductions
I watched as the nurse took patients in and carefully introduced herself each time. The whole team were very careful about introductions and wore their name badges. The medical student was also introduced and felt part of the team.
Team work
The team worked well together. The Registrar was lovely and had a very professional way of working. I felt totally at ease during examination and she quickly found the lump which I thought had disappeared. I was listened to throughout. When I asked a question it was quickly checked with the consultant before proceeding. The consultant himself was friendly and professional. The team were caring. I learnt the consultant was a locum from the Netherlands. I would never have guessed that he wasn't a permanent team member as everyone worked so smoothly together.
Explanations
I was allowed to look at the ultrasound and involved in the discussion. Explanations were made clearly and put into context. I was quickly put at ease and in addition to this the consultant gave some advice for the future. The medical student was professional and friendly and I felt totally relaxed and comfortable.
