"Long Wait Times in A&E with little communication"

About: University Hospital Aintree

Currently sat in A&E in excess of 6 hours with my father who is 70 years of age. Very long wait times with very little communication about when you will be seen. Original wait time displayed was 3 hours. After 3 hours it changed to 5-6 and now we are in excess of that with no knowledge of when he will be seen. It's 1am and my elderly father would likely have been better off getting a GP appointment for tomorrow morning. He is fatigued and restless and we still have no idea how long it will be until he is seen.

Dear Mr Houghton,

We apologise for the wait you had to endure while visiting the AED department with your father, we understand it is not easy to wait without any communication, especially when he is not feeling well. We will pass this on to the teams involved for learning. We hope that your father has been able to receive treatment.

Many thanks,
