About: Maternity care / Maternity Ward

(as the patient),

Unfortunately everyone doesn't have success stories and I'm one of them. I gave birth to my second son asleep at 21 weeks gestation back in July. It was a confusing time but the care from two of the midwives really stood out. I was feeling so many emotions that day and yet months on I'm still feeling the same. Sometimes just having someone make you feel a little more at ease straight after a traumatic experience helps.

Dear Confused23,

I am really sorry to hear that your son was born asleep in July, this will be a very difficult time for you and your family. I am sure there are no words which will be able to take away how you are feeling just now.

To hear the midwives caring for you helped you through some of this traumatic time, is reassuring. As you have described this can be a confusing time and it is important for our staff to listen, comfort and support you.

I hope you are continuing to be supported by professionals, such as our bereavement nurse. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to help you, my email address is pamela.galloway@nhs,scot.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience especially in such sad circumstances.

With best wishes

Pamela
