9 year old son presented with a high temp of 39.8 and wasn't able to control at home. Rang nhs 24 for advice which resulted in seeing a Dr out of hours at the hospital.
Treatment was swift and no wait time, however seen for a maximum of 10 minutes and diagnosed with a viral illness. Returned home and my son was up and down for a week, took him to own GP and he happened to be misdiagnosed with a viral illness which actually was Strep. Required antibiotics. Now I'm just glad I followed my own instinct and got him re seen otherwise this could have took a different turn believing his first diagnosis. I felt so angry and frustrated that he was misdiagnosed and how rotten he felt due to not receiving the correct treatment in the first instance. 2 weeks later and he's only just returning back to his normal self.
