I have been a patient of the mental health assessment unit at Nevis Suite at Stobhill Hospital on several occasions. I feel these units are performing terribly, I have seen care opinion and google reviews on this unit and they are all negative.
I was assessed by the unit at the weekend during a mental health crisis and I found they were doing everything in their power to do the bare minimal for me. I felt the appointment was a counselling session, and not a mental health assessment. I advised I was suicidal and required crisis treatment and they advised that they would ask the crisis team to telephone me. The NE crisis team did phone me and advised the referral was done incorrectly as the contact from MHAU requested telephone contact at my request and wasn't actually a referral which I was dismayed about. It is only by chance that I was already a CMHT patient that resulted in them accepting my referral.
I have no confidence in these assessment units and would rather deliberately self-harm and be seen by liaison psychiatry team at the royal infirmary and actually have a full comprehensive assessment of my needs rather than the MHAU who do their upmost to either take no action or ask my existing team to contact me when they're back in the office. I will not be making a complaint as I have no confidence in the senior managers ability to investigate the complaint impartially based upon prior negative experiences.
