I am in my late eighties and live with COPD. Many years ago probably about sixty, I was diagnosed as having asthma. I have used inhalers and led a normal healthy life. However, recently I have no energy and get breathless with the slightest exertion and am unable to be active. I was directed to the Community Respiratory Service In Banbridge, Co. Down. I have been diagnosed as needing oxygen when walking.
The only good as a result of my condition is that I met up with the local Community Respiratory Team. They are a wonderful caring helpful friendly group. They provide help and advice. I recently completed a weekly Pulmonary rehab course in Newry Sports Centre which concentrated mainly on exercise, but also about life styles. It was helpful useful and yes fun.
This would not be possible without the wonderful team of
Nicola, Sarah, Brenda, Frances, Michaela, and not forgetting the student nurse Cardine.
I miss my weekly visit.
Please keep up the good work. It is greatly appreciated especially in these difficult times
