"Interaction with doctor"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde Shawpark Resource Centre

(as the patient),

I have suffered from severe mental health since I was a teen. Have severe anxiety, depression and agitation since I was removed from my head meds after over 25 years. Had a bad episode where I wanted to attack a toddler in the street. Thankfully I didn't.

Contacted my new practice and explained it. I was offered 10 mg of a medication that was useless for me.

Tried again by phone. Got a doctor who demanded I tell them what pills I would like. I Said I don't know. They replied I'm untreatable. I asked why, they replied psychiatric services say I was drunk in the past.

I have now asked the doctor 3 times for details of this. No reply at all. Now I have received an out of the blue appointment to Shawpark Resource Centre - I was there before and left fast as all they offer is CBT and talk. 

I felt I had a basic, useless, abusive 15 min phone call with the doctor and no help offered by any mental health drugs as they refuse to offer any and no reply. Why?

Hi Miryhi,

I hope you are doing better and I am really sorry that this has been your experience and I cant imagine the distress you have went through/ been going through.

Unfortunately, there's not much I can do on my end, however your GP practice should have their own feedback or complaints process. GP practices operate their own process separately to acute/ hospital sites. You should be able to find this info on the GP practice website.

I hope you get this issue sorted and the outcome you need.
