"A huge disappointment"

About: Coathill Hospital / Adult Psychiatry General practices in Lanarkshire

(as the patient),

This story involves two medical centres in Lanarkshire.

No idea where to start, but in my experience where my GP is is an absolute shambles,

No professionalism at all.

I can’t get a face to face appointment for love nor money. More chance winning the lotto.

Call at 8 am and the 25 available slots have all gone. There’s even been OAPs queuing outside from 7 am in the freezing cold.

It's disgusting, in my view.

And if you get to see a GP well , it’s quite clear to me they don’t care... They seemed arrogant and lacked knowledge. I’ve had multiple GPs tell me they've not heard of this, ask what does that do, or similar shocking stuff.   The ones I met seem to have an attitude and are always late, always , and you never get an apology… you’re basically treated like a number and hurried out the door as soon as they can get you out...

Now part 2: In the second health centre re: psych department…

The wait times are absolutely disgusting and the psychs who are there, well, just like the medical centre I found the ones I met to be useless and do not care about their patients at all, zero care in my experience.

They cannot think outside of the box , if my symptoms don’t fit the rule book then basically I felt stuck. I had one of your psychs even tell me I don’t have mental health problems but double my antidepressants.

None of the psychiatrists there I’ve seen have helped me at all. All talk down to me like I’m a dumb child - when in actual fact it seems I know way more about mental health issues than any of them.

There’s no after care. And if you get to talk to someone on the phone they’re always in a rush to get you off the line. Heaven forbid you call in a state of crisis all you ever hear is you’re in capacity, and I was even told suicide is my choice, you're in capacity…… totally unprofessional behaviour It’s the worst medical centre/ mental health centre I’ve ever experienced.

The nurses and maybe 2 receptionists are amazing, but any GP or psychiatric staff………… useless, in my experience. Jobs that require perfect bedside manner and real care….. 0/10.

Staff seem to know nothing and show zero care.

Psychiatrists the same, these people should know everything and it seems they know nothing.

A huge disappointment

Really bad. It needs fixing.

Dear Clark826,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of GP Surgeries on Care Opinion.

I am very disappointed to hear the way in which you have been treated and I am sorry that you are going through such a challenging and difficult time. I totally understand your frustrations and upset with the high wait times, poor attitudes of GPs and overall lack of care in which you have experienced several times. We aim to deliver a much higher standard of care than you have received.

GP’s are independent contractors and are responsible for investigating and responding to any concerns a person may have about the service; they are not registered to respond directly to feedback through Care Opinion. Can I please invite you to contact the Practice Manager if you would like a direct response about the service or you can also contact Primary Care Patient Affairs, I have included their contact details.
