Message from a service user

I would like to write about my experience at the Rosewood Involvement centre in Ollerton. I have been volunteering at the Rosewood centre for a few months since 1st visiting for a meditation group there. I was introduced to the centre manager- Nigel Groves and some of the volunteers too.

They showed me around the centre and then explained to me what the centre was all about.

I later joined the communications team at Rosewood Involvement centre and was introduced to Trevor and more of the centre volunteers. Everyone was great, very helpful and understanding. Everyone looks out for each other and this lessoned my anxiety. I attended for only 10 minutes on my 1st day however the staff and volunteers encouraged me to keep coming. Over the coming months I now readily participate at the centre in various Involvement projects. The centre has given me greater confidence in meeting people. Staff, volunteers and carers have included me and encouraged me every step of the way on my road to recovery. I further would like to say that I think Rosewood Involvement centre should be part of everyone’s recovery journey. It’s given me the ability to gain some control over my condition and has boosted my confidence and strength to challenge my condition. Thank you Rosewood

Along with the Head of Involvement (Paul Sanguinazzi), I am responsible for the Trusts two Involvement Centres, and our Volunteering and Befriending Service. I help to report all of the feedback we receive as a Trust to the Board.

A huge and very sincere thank you for sharing such lovely feedback with us.

Rosewood is quite a special place isn't it, and we're so glad it has such a positive impact on people's lives. It's the volunteers, like you, who come along and support each other that make it what it is.

It's great to hear that you just visited for 10 minutes initially, but that you now feel confident and able to attend often and contribute so much. That's brilliant, and we would encourage people to take their time like you did. We know that it can be intimidating at first, especially if you've recently been in hospital, but it's great that you stuck with it and now feel more 'at home' at Rosewood.

For me, the really impactful part of your story is where you say that coming to Rosewood has given you the ability to gain some control over your condition. That's just fantastic. It's great to know that while Rosewood is not a clinical service, it still has such a positive effect on your health.

Please keep coming, and working with us. Your contribution is really appreciated, and we're really glad you found us - and we found you!
