Anything else?
Most of the nurses were kind, cheerful, friendly and encouraging. For the most part I was happy with the care I received though there were a couple of occasions when I felt people were unnecessarily sharp and impatient with me. Pain management was inconsistent. On two occasions the drug round was two hours late and on another, less than 48 hours after Total Hip Replacement, I was refused the intermediate pain relief which had been written up in my notes. Support was inconsistent too. Most staff told me to ask for help when getting up and back into bed but twice it was provided grudgingly with comments about ‘not getting away with it next time’. On discharge the morning of the fourth day following the operation I was only supplied with paracetamol and codeine for pain relief though on the ward I had been receiving tramadol in addition to these.
