My 13 year old daughter fell and put her hand through a pane of glass. She suffered a deep cut to her left hand.
We went to the childrens accident and emergency at Leicester Royal Infirmary. After initially being told that all was ok by a doctor, the nurse who was about to close the wound was concerned that a tendon did not seem right and called for the consultant to have a look.
I am eternally grateful to that nurse as my daughter had severed a tendon and needed emergency surgery to repair it.
The play specialist Mariam was also excellent and kept my daughter informed all the way. She was admitted to the ward. It was clean and there was evidence of cleaning going on frequently. All of the staff were fantastic from the housekeeper to nurses and doctors, especially the play specialist on the ward Laura who explained what would happen when she went to theatre and showed her pictures of the anaesthetic room etc. This prepared her well for surgery.
Excellent care and excellent childrens service. Thank you.
