"An immense help to us"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a service user),

I would like to take a moment to compliment the team at Grampian Ward. I feel the nursing team do not get enough credit for the way they carry out their daily duties whilst ensuring that we can understand what they are saying to us. We are a deaf ward with seven patients, all of whom have mixed levels of language skills.

The ward manager, Mr Lowe, Dr Kaler and the general staff have been advocating our ward and leading the drive to ensure we have access to the information that hearing patients do. Some of the patients on the ward cannot read English and write either, so it is credit to the staff to ensure they take on board information that is pertinent. The staff have been learning sign language and that has been an immense help to us all here. Credit to them.

Thankyou for taking the time to post an opinion about the care you receive.

We have worked hard, as a ward community, to ensure you are not disadvantaged in accessing care and treatment and I'm pleased that it feels like this to you.

We will continue to work together to further develop and improve the service for the future.
