During the following process, Mr Vinci began my treatment, informing me of the presence of cancer and giving lots of reassurance that treatment would follow swiftly.
Mr Pitsinis then took over taking me right through the process until the operation was done and results found. Incredibly professional and kind!
Dr Borgaonkar was in charge of the radiotherapy treatment, completing the entire process. Yet again, I felt utter confidence in the process.
Words cannot sufficiently express my deep gratitude to these doctors and their superb teams. At every stage I was clearly informed of the situation, given advice, umpteen leaflets for detailed advice between appointments , and phone numbers to contact for any support I needed.
Most of all, I met with superb professionalism coupled with extraordinary kindness from staff at every level and section of the treatment.

Here is the timeline of my cancer journey, mainly to encourage anyone beginning their own treatment. The meticulous investigation of the cancer was massively reassuring.
1 - My GP practice referred me to Ninewells hospital. Despite nothing being palpable, they believed my feeling that my breast discomfort had changed and felt it needed investigation.
2 - After several mammograms, ultrasound and a biopsy being taken, the presence of a tumour was confirmed
3 - Cancer confirmed and I was immediately started on anti-cancer medicine.
4 - Extra tumour had been found. Another mammogram was done
5 - Another mammogram and ultrasound done
6 - Extra mammogram done
7 - Phone appointment to prepare for operation now an inter-disciplinary meeting had worked out the best way to carry on the treatment.
8 - Final mammogram
9 - Discussion about lumpectomy treatment
10 - Day surgery in Perth. *****
(2 small scars and a temporarily navy blue breast)
11 - Results of operation and subsequent biopsy etc on tumours and lymph node removed
Given the all clear!
Radiotherapy as a precaution was recommended and the last part ensued
12 - Radiotherapy and Oncology decided on my treatment and explained the next stage.
13 - Preparation for radiotherapy given
14 - Practice in how to behave while receiving radiotherapy and markings (invisible to the naked eye) put in place
15 - 5 Daily appointments of about an hour but only minutes in the actual machine,
All done!! Phone review scheduled but I get on with life!
Thanks to all staff in Ninewells and Perth hospitals. You work miracles with cheerfulness and grace.
